We live high in the mountains where butterflies are fairly rare but we see plenty of them during the hot summer months—so get out with your pencil and paper!

Being in the mountains, these tough insects live off sap from the trees and also wild animal droppings if there is no nectar about. When they've had their feed you can take a snapshot of them to capture their colors to do a quick sketch later.

If you find it difficult to draw the other half you can always get a piece of tracing paper to get it looking great. Creating a line drawing may seem a bit complex to a beginner but all drawings can be broken down into simple shapes.
