Funny Kids Jokes

Kids sure do laugh at a lot of things and they certainly like funny kids jokes. "What is a mummy's favorite type of music?"
"Rap."

Kids, (and actually, a lot of adults, too), seem to live in a cartoon world where everything can become exaggerated and very funny, very quickly.

Kids like to have fun more than just about anybody, even more than monkeys and puppies. But what's so humorous about funny kids' jokes?

"What did one hammer say to the other hammer?" "I broke a nail." That's pretty funny! But what makes kids laugh?

Good question. One nine-year-old girl, who has a very good sense of humor, recently said that she laughs at a lot of things. She enjoys jokes like the ones mentioned above and she also likes The TV show "America's Funniest Home Videos." She thinks that is really, really funny. For her, it's a lot funnier than "The Planet's Funniest Animals." She does like animals a lot, though, especially bunnies, but it's a lot funnier to her when people do silly things or have accidents, instead of animals, as long as they don't hurt themselves.

"What did the tire say to the truck?"
"I need a brake."

She likes those funny kids jokes, too. It's a play on words. The word 'brake' sounds like the word 'break,' but the spelling is different and so is the meaning. So, the tire is making a joke. The word 'brake' in the joke means the brakes on the truck that are used to stop the truck. The word 'break,' that sounds exactly the same, means the tire needs to take a rest, or a 'break'. This joke is very clever because it means two things at the same time.

Sometimes kids, and some adults, laugh at funny kids' jokes and words even if they can't explain why they are funny. They just seem funny at the time, somehow. One kid laughed uncontrollably when he heard the word 'weird' for the first time. He laughed every time he heard it for two full days. Then someone mentioned a type of boat that's made in Asia called a 'Chinese Junk' and he didn't stop laughing for a whole week!

Sometimes we just don't know what is going to make us laugh. It could be a funny kids' joke, a word, an idea or a story, or seeing someone fall into a lake when they least expect it. That's what's so great about laughing; it's hardly ever planned. It just happens and then it catches on and pretty soon everybody in the group is laughing.

They say that laughing, like yawning, is contagious. What do you think? Watch how many people in a room start yawning after the first yawner opens her mouth. Then watch what happens when one or two people start laughing together. You might see others get a happy face and look like they want to laugh too. All they need is a reason and people will start laughing.

'Knock, Knock.'
