Special time with my little boy

A big worry I used to have was wondering what quality time looked like with a little one. When children are older, they are easier to hang out with. For starters you know that they understand you – and you can understand them! Their vocabulary is considerably more elaborate than the average one year old!

I’ve been shocked to discover how simple it is to spend quality time with a little boy as he has developed from being a newborn to a toddler. So what is it we do together? We LOVE reading together. We spend hours looking at books and reading them together – he points out (using sounds) everything he recognizes.

We love to go for walks – and he’s taught me about stopping and smelling the roses, the daffodils, the shrubs; pretty much everything. He’s taught me how to appreciate the simple things in life. How else have we always enjoyed quality time together? Quite simply, by cuddling together on the sofa, listening to him share about what he’s thinking about. Those are the moments I cherish the most and make me realize that the most important thing I can do as a mum is just listen to my child.
